Former Presidential Staffer Charles Cromwell Onuawonto Bissue has been declared wanted by the Office of Special Prosecutor (OSP).
A concise statement posted on the OSP's website on Tuesday, June 13, accompanying the notice, urged individuals with any information regarding this person to get in touch with the Office of the Special Prosecutor.
The Office alleges that Mr. Bissue, formerly the Secretary of the disbanded Inter-Ministerial Committee on Illegal Mining (IMCIM), is being sought for charges related to corruption and corruption-related activities associated with the Committee.
However, it was explicitly stated that the actions involved the confiscation and administration of excavators, machinery, road vehicles, and gold nuggets, as well as the exploitation of a public office for financial gain.
Mr. Bissue was initially exposed in an investigative documentary produced by renowned journalist Anas Aremeyaw Anas.
The Office of Special Prosecutor (OSP) investigated the aforementioned documentary and subsequently issued an invitation to apprehend Mr. Bissue.
The ex-General Secretary of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Western Region filed a court injunction in an attempt to prevent the Office of Special Prosecutor (OSP) from conducting any further investigations into the case. He argued that he had already been cleared by a police investigation regarding the documentary.
On Monday, June 12, his legal representatives requested documentation supporting the invitation for his arrest issued by the OSP.
